Firedrake Jewellery is offering the chance of spending a day learning some of the skills required to make pieces of jewellery.  As well as giving an insight into types of metal, hallmarking requirements, tools and further learning resources.
 
A "taster" session, full day is offered under tuition from our designer/maker Chris, who will guide you through making at least four items to take home.

You will train one-to-one at our bench, using specialist and standard tools that a bench jeweller will use every day.
The skills and techniques covered may include:

  • Filing/Sanding

  • Polishing techniques

  • Using a rolling mill

  • Annealing

  • Soldering

  • Using a jewellers saw

  • Hammering/Forging

  • Beadwork

  • Chain weaving/Wire work

  • Understanding Hallmarks

  • Gemstone basics

We are open for business, whilst taking careful notice and providing a safe environment to keep our trainees and ourselves safe from Covid-19 whilst  inviting trainees into our home studio.  Please see the information outlined in the further description of our training days here

Please see further information in the product page.  A full day is 9:30am to 4:00pm (this can be extended slightly to complete projects) at a date to suit both the trainee and Chris.  Lunch/drinks and materials are included.  You can purchase this for yourself, or as a gift voucher for someone else - what a marvellous and unusual gift!
